What is the point? Diplomatic Immunity why even have such a law? so non americans can get away with murder???

I believe it was designed to limit the possibilities for political tensions between government representatives. Say an individaul does not know all the laws and breaks one? Or perhaps there exists an unjust law? I agree. Diplomatic immunity should be thrown out. However, the original intention was good.
