DVD burner not working very well?

First thing I would do is clean the burner with a cd/dvd cleaner. Most likely it is getting close to being done though. It sounds like it has served its purpose. May want to check and see if you can download any new drivers though. Generally when they start to go bad, mine would read a disk but not write one completely and it would ruin a disc. Try cleaning first
