Do braces make you gag?

I have really really bad gag reflex because of a disorder called Gastric Reflux and I have to get braces soon and i am scared. at the dentists, if they try to put a film in my mouth to get X-rays i gag or throw up a litte in my mouth. so does anyone have any info on this or have the same disorder that has had braces or has a really bad gag reflux that has had braces?
